A meaningless page from my diary

Dated: 16th October 2008

Dear Diary,

It rained yesterday, the atmosphere is cool and the point where weather takes a turn has arrived.24052011106 Today I witnessed an alien kind of phenomenon, that is that at some point of time you get sick of entertainment. The beloved and most wanted relaxations , the movies , the games , gluttonous eating all seem to become blanche and a fatigue to do. At this point point you feel like trying to do something boring like fixing a pipe leak, watching the plants and remembering how you planted them etc. etc. It is kind of strange , but it is true that the best medicine of obsession is obsession itself. What a complex task it is to comprehend a human’s mind.

One more thing I learned todays was that firstly for defeating a grim subject you have to defeat the fear. It’s a kind of nervous blockade to thinking and analysis process. The rest are wonders of destiny and should be embraced with pride.

Jitnay moon Utni Baatein

I didn’t have any plans to write on OBL since I am not well informed about the topic, well most of us aren’t, but we still resort to wasting millions [oh well that’s how you exaggerate] of hours of time in discussing something we have no clue about. “But it is on TV?” –Oh well yes you get to see TV and know the “truth”,  I really wish you were born I Germany at WWII. “But the white house is—-” have they produced any evidence? “But the videos….” what do they signify ? Questions / Answers / Explanations/ Blame Game and what not, wont you care any less if Osama was still living in Pakistan? No, but it is our birth right to exploit every bit of dirt that we can, and start a propaganda, just because the TV is compelling us to do so. The people of Pakistan are so madly volatile, that if I were in place of US, I would simply rig Pakistani media and take control of the country. Well it sure is non-palatable? Then there is blame game, I don’t know fore sure if the journalist have really lost their credibility or they have forgotten that not all of us are well educated to absorb and analyze situations with different aspects? Different group of people watching different channels, there is no place where I see conflict on stories. The problem here is that the people who need to speak up, are silent and the ones who need to remain calm are either sitting in cafes or their offices or getting online and posting wrong information.

Then there is another group of people who have contacts in the offices or ministries directly or remotely related to issues. Even if the contact has nothing to do with the hot topic and he was nowhere near the place where the action took place, he will surely give you his eye witness account. Then the point of view will spread like wildfire, ofcourse it comes from an internal source.

Then there are politicians, such incompetent creatures. Since I have no hopes for them so I will not touch that topic.

Everyone has a different level of understanding. Some people have close associations with the organizations under critique , while there are people who have antagonistic opinions about them. Naturally there exists a difference of opinions between the people because of the conditions they are in, and people only propagate hatred and mutiny by fueling the atmosphere with their baseless allegations.

I have failed to understand why don’t people get rational, and atleast not spread unauthentic information, if they can help from blabbering it among themselves. We have to realize that fingers are being pointed at us from the whole world, and we are being catalyst to the process. Even if the facts hold true we have to stick with our people, because more of them will be at loss If an adverse action comes in, but no they just cant stop the urge from controlling our heads and doing the same as others are. Let me give you an example; parents always defend their children even if they know that they have one something wrong, because they love their children and they own them in difficult time, at later stage they also make corrections when nobody is watching. Quite the same way all the institutions and everyone in the country comes under our ownership since we brought them into power.  It is our job to stay united and care less about what media tells us to. If we really want correction on the system it can be done when the tough times pass. As it is said “Praise in public and reprimand in private”.

I generally stick to my work and not waste my brains in bringing some sense into people, but I guess i have still high hopes for them. If you are still reading this please do take time and ponder over the times you have propagated something without verification and created a black spot of enmity among the masses. I really hope that people of Pakistan mature themselves as a nation more than they can do in any other way.

Windows Shutdown, Hibernate and Password Bug

I use Windows 7 . The other day I found a bug in its shutdown and hibernation mechanism. Like most of you I like to keep my system on hibernation while I am not around. The other day I accidently pressed shutdown button, since thewindows-fail OS takes time shutdown, I was able to click the hibernate button and the system almost instantly went into hibernation. A few minutes later I turned on my PC and I was not prompted for a Password.. Strangely enough I was prompted to close my apps [Adobe photoshop, Firefox etc] because my system was going into a shutdown. I canceled the shutdown. Since then my windows my stopped prompted for password.

I tried and it works on Vista as well.

I tried reporting a bug on connect.microsoft.com website, but the procedure is bizarre so I resorted in posting it.

You can try it as well:

  1. Open up and App
  2. Click shutdown
  3. Click Hibernate before your system shuts down
  4. Done

While I look into the shutdown process of windows and possibly devise a way to automate this, you guys enjoy playing with it.
